Hello, I am Madhura and welcome to MadhurasRecipe Marathi Let’s see how to make batatyachya kacharya today. Very easy & simple recipe. Can be made from very few ingredients. If you get bored of making sabzi some day Or if you don’t like sabzis available at home then this is the perfect recipe. My hubby just loves it. Tomato dal & batatyachya kacharya is a fantastic combination. For making kacharya we want 1 big potato 1 bowl finely chopped onion, coriander leaves for garnishing, 1 tbsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 10-12 chopped garlic cloves & a pinch of hing. we will also need 2 tsp oil and salt to taste. To begin with peel the potato. After peeling the potato cut it into half & slice it into not too thin slices as potato bhaji And nor too thick. We want to make batatyachya kacharya. If you make too thin slices then these will cooked quickly and melt. If you make thick slices then these will take longer to cook. So make medium thin slices. What to do? Cut it into 4 portions. So that you can make such kacharya. Pretty easy. Batata has been sliced. Let’s make masala now. To begin with heat up 2 tsp oil. Add mustard seeds. It should pop up & then we will add cumin seeds. When mustard seeds pop up well add cumin seeds. Cumin seeds also should splutter well So that it doesn’t trouble while eating. Add hing & garlic. Fry garlic for just a minute. No need to change its color. After frying garlic a little add finely chopped onion. Mix well and fry onion until it gets nice golden color. Onion has got nice golden color. Add red chili powder. No need to add any other masala. We are aadding only red chili powder. If you want then you can add kanda lasun masala, goda masala, garam masala. But I love such simple kacharya. Red chili powder is mixed well. Add batatyachay kacharya. Mix well. Coat these well. Add salt. Salt helps to release moisture form potato. Potato gets cooked well though we add minimum water. Cover and cook on medium heat for 2 minutes. I have steamed this potato for 2 minutes. This is looking really nice. Add a very little water about 2-3 tsp. Just enough for cooking potato. Batatyachya kacharya are not runny. This is a dry sabzi. Add very little water. Cover & cook until these are cooked nice & soft. I have cooked kacharya on medium heat for 7-8 minutes. I was removing lid and mixing it after every 2-3 minutes. So that these won’t burn at base of pan. Potato is almost cooked. It has got nice coating of masala. Looking yummy. It is perfectly cooked. We are not overcooking. Or the potato loses it’s shape. Delicious. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. Turn off the gas & batatyachya kacharya are already. Let’s serve these. It has got nice color & texture. Sprinkle a little coriander. How to have these kacharya? You can have these batatyachya kacharya with poli.
